How I Can Help You
Should I Or Shouldn't I?
Are you unhappy in your marriage, but unsure if divorce is the answer? Are you worried that you'll have regrets? Are you agonzing over how to make this decision? As a divorce coach, people ask me all the time if I'm "pro-divorce." I'm NOT pro-divorce. I AM passionate about helping you make the best possible decisions for yourself, whether that means staying together, waiting with intention, or getting a divorce. I'll help you sort through your emotions, goals and values so that you can choose the best path forward for YOU.
Managing Stress & Overwhelming Emotions
Are your thoughts and emotions running amok? Are you blindsided by the loss of financial security and all of the uncertainty? Does the site of your spouse make you crazy? Together we'll identify your hot buttons and triggers, and practice skills that will help you lower the temperature of difficult conversations. You'll be better able to respond calmly and clearly, rather than reactively, allowing you to feel more in control of interactions with your spouse, and the decisions you make.
Preparation and Organization
Are you overwhelmed and just don’t know where, or how, to start? Are you concerned about skyrocketing legal fees? Unfortunately, the judicial system doesn't give "emotional" justice. The judicial system is all about the "business" of divorce. Just when you need to think most clearly and rationally, you probably have a million thoughts running through your head and just don't know where, or how, to start. As your divorce coach, I'll help you gain clarity on your goals and priorities so that you're a confident, focused, well-prepared client, ready to discuss the "business" of divorce with your attorney. The preparation we'll do together will save you time and money in the long run!
Intentional Decision Making
Are you overwhelmed by the number of decisions you need to make? Are you worried about making bad decisions that can have long-term repercussions? I've stood in your shoes and know how daunting it is! I'll help you make sense of the emotional and mental whirlwind so you can gain clarity around your goals and prioritize the decisions that will have the greatest impact on your future. Together we can break down those challenging decisions, walk down the path of different possibilities, and "reality-test" your options. By taking the time to think things through intentionally, you'll have fewer long-term regrets.
Children & Co-Parenting
Are you worried about your children and how they’re going to handle all the changes that a divorce brings? Are you unsure how you’ll ever transition from marriage to co-parenting? According to the American Association of Adolescent and Child Psychiatry, children aren't as negatively affected by the change of divorce as they are by the conflict and intense negative emotions it too often brings. As your Divorce Coach, I'll help you create a conflict-free zone for your children as everyone adjusts to their new normal. I'll help you determine what's appropriate to say to them during the process, and what respectful co-parenting communcation sounds like. Using these skills and strategies will help you lower the conflict of the divorce and protect your children, even if you have a difficult spouse.
